On the 15th, under the supervision of Quanzhou Customs, the Vietnamese cargo ship "Royal 88," carrying 4,600 tons of Indonesian kaolin from Belitung Island, Indonesia, successfully unloaded at Huajin Terminal in the Jinshang Operation Area of Quanzhou Port.This marks the first direct foreign trade vessel to arrive since the expansion and opening of Quanzhou Port, and also the official launch of the first direct maritime route from Quanzhou Port to Indonesia.To date, Quanzhou Port has opened a total of 11 maritime routes under the Belt and Road Initiative. As an important starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Quanzhou has seen continuously growing trade with Belt and Road countries. Huajin Terminal is a key component of the Quanzhou Bay Port Area, currently equipped with three 35,000-ton berths, primarily handling container and bulk cargo business, with an expected annual increase of 1 million tons of foreign trade throughput.
Lyu Qingbai, General Manager of Huajin Terminal, stated that the launch of this first direct maritime route to Indonesia has brought in high-quality kaolin, which is in high domestic demand, promoting cooperation between Quanzhou and Belt and Road countries, achieving resource complementarity and mutual benefit. Zhang Zhimin, General Manager of Fujian Jialian Mining Co., Ltd., explained that this batch of kaolin imported from Indonesia will primarily meet the needs of ceramic enterprises in Jinjiang, Nan'an, and other areas for tiles and sanitary ware, and will also radiate to major ceramic production regions such as Jiangxi and Hunan. Compared to importing through Xiamen Port, the distance from the terminal to the enterprises is only about 30 kilometers, taking just over 40 minutes, saving approximately 50 yuan per ton in logistics costs, with an expected annual business volume of 300,000 tons.
