The Indonesian Chinese Association (Indonesian: Perhimpunan Indonesia Tionghoa) is one of the largest Chinese community organizations in Indonesia, established on April 10, 1999. Its mission is to fight for the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese Indonesians, promote ethnic integration, and foster harmonious development in Indonesian society. Organizational Structure National Organization: The Indonesian Chinese Association has branches in 16 provinces across Indonesia, with 90 district/city branches. It also has a board of supervisors and directors with nearly 1,000 members. Overseas Offices: 1. Beijing Office 2. Guangzhou Office 3. In March 2024, the Hainan Office of the Indonesian Chinese Association was established to further promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia. 4. On May 6, 2025, the Jiangmen Office in Guangdong Province was established. Main Activities and Achievements Advocacy for Rights: The Indonesian Chinese Association actively pushed the Indonesian government to pass the 2006 Citizenship Law and the 2008 Anti-Discrimination Law, abolishing discriminatory provisions against Chinese Indonesians. Social Services: The association has organized various social service projects, including sponsoring non-Chinese students to study in China, providing free cataract surgeries, and participating in post-disaster reconstruction, covering 14 provinces and 52 districts/cities in Indonesia. It is a federation of Indonesian Chinese community organizations composed of fellow townsmen from Guangdong, aiming to unite the strength of Guangdong Chinese, promote community solidarity, advance social welfare, cultural and educational undertakings, and contribute to the national development of Indonesia. It is the first overseas Guangdong community federation formed jointly by Guangzhao, Hakka, and Chaozhou associations.rnrnHistorical BackgroundrnrnThe founding ceremony and the inaugural board of directors' inauguration of Guanglianhui were grandly held on November 13, 2007, at the Sun City Tongle Restaurant in Jakarta. Nearly 2,000 people attended the celebration, including Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lan Lijun, Indonesian Cabinet Secretary representative Zakaria, Director of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Wu Ruicheng, and leaders from various overseas Chinese communities. In his speech, Ambassador Lan Lijun stated that the Cantonese Chinese actively integrate into Indonesia's mainstream society, contributing to social development and economic prosperity, and expressed hope that Guanglianhui would promote unity within the Chinese community and harmony between Chinese and other ethnic groups. Indonesian Hakka Association

The Indonesian Hakka Association (Indonesian: Perhimpunan Hakka Indonesia Sejahtera) was established in 1999 and became the first legally recognized Chinese community organization approved by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs. In 2008, to better unite Hakka compatriots across Indonesia and strengthen coordination among regional Hakka associations, 20 regional Hakka associations decided to form the Hakka Association of Indonesia.rnThe then President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met twice with leaders of 30 Hakka associations under the Indonesian Hakka Association, highly commending the Indonesian Hakka community. He called on the Chinese community to work together with all ethnic groups in nation-building.
