Detailed Introduction
The Indonesian Hakka Association (Indonesian: Perhimpunan Hakka Indonesia Sejahtera) was established in 1999, becoming the first Chinese legal organization approved by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs. In 2008, to better unite Hakka compatriots across Indonesia and strengthen liaison among regional Hakka organizations, Hakka associations from 20 regions resolved to establish the Federation. Then-President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono twice met with leaders of 30 Hakka associations under the Federation, highly praising Indonesian Hakka people and calling for cooperation between the Chinese community and all ethnic groups in building the nation. Over the years, the association has upheld traditions of fostering harmony among communities, uniting compatriots, and loving the country and hometown. It actively engages in social welfare, promotes Chinese education, and established the Chongde Trilingual School.
