The Indonesian Ministry of Industry announced plans to accelerate industrial certification services to enhance domestic industrial competitiveness and protect the domestic market from influx of low-quality imported products. The Minister of Industry stated that 2026 is a critical year for the government to address various challenges in the industrial sector and solidify manufacturing as the country's main economic growth engine. To this end, the Ministry will implement several strategic measures, including strengthening the implementation of mandatory standards and simplifying industrial certification processes, ensuring that products circulating in the domestic market meet government requirements for quality, safety, and standards. The Minister stated that through a faster and more efficient service system, domestic industrial competitiveness is expected to improve significantly. The head of the Industrial Standards and Industrial Service Policy Agency (BSKJI) noted that the agency and its technical units will align their efforts to support domestic industrial development by improving the industrial service ecosystem. She emphasized that strengthening the role of standard service centers and industrial service institutions is crucial to creating a service ecosystem that responds to business needs, and thus will continue to promote service diversification to provide broader support for the industrial sector. The head of the Jakarta Industrial Standards and Service Center (BSPJI) stated that the center is continuously improving service quality, focusing on accelerating certification processing times. The original minimum certification service period was 41 working days, which has now been successfully reduced to 28 working days. At the same time, the center has prioritized employee capacity building to ensure services are more professional and responsive to industry needs. The Jakarta Industrial Standards and Service Center will also strengthen cooperation with other technical units under BSKJI to more comprehensively meet industrial service needs. In the future, standard and certification services will continue to be optimized and upgraded to ensure healthy development and competitiveness of domestic industries, and to effectively prevent the inflow of imported products that do not meet quality standards.
