An automotive expert from the Bandung Institute of Technology pointed out that highly competitive pricing and comprehensive features are the core advantages of Chinese brand cars in attracting Indonesian consumers, and also the key reasons for their continuously rising market share. Within the same price range, Chinese cars are generally equipped with far more abundant features than their peers, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), large central control screens, panoramic sunroofs, as well as modern exterior and interior designs, which are rarely seen in other brands at the same price point. He believes that Chinese automakers are generally able to apply the latest technology to mass-produced models faster than their competitors, with a clear advantage in product iteration speed. He emphasized that vehicle design and technological features greatly influence the purchasing decisions of young consumers, especially Millennials and Gen Z consumers, who have relatively lower brand loyalty and place more value on the actual value and overall experience of the product. A large number of practical and cutting-edge features, continuously improving design standards and craftsmanship, make Chinese cars more competitive compared to Japanese brands in the same price range. This assessment is also consistent with market data: in Q1 2026, sales of Chinese brand cars in Indonesia surged 79% year-on-year, showing strong market performance. He further analyzed that Chinese automotive companies are promoting localized production in Indonesia, effectively improving parts supply efficiency and after-sales service convenience, reducing consumers' post-purchase costs, and further enhancing product appeal. At the same time, a series of incentive policies introduced by the Indonesian government to promote new energy vehicles, combined with the affordable pricing of Chinese EVs themselves, have significantly boosted the competitiveness of Chinese electric vehicles in the local market, becoming an important factor in driving market adoption. He stated that it is the combined effect of government subsidies, affordable pricing, rich features, and rapid technological iteration that has led to a significant increase in acceptance and continuous expansion of market share for Chinese electric vehicles in Indonesia.
