The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI) has revealed the issues that must be addressed by the government under President Prabowo Subianto for the 2024-2029 term. The Constitutional Court (MK) has just decided to reject the lawsuits from the Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud candidates, and has determined that the 2024-2029 Indonesian presidential and vice-presidential candidates are Prabowo-Gibran. The Secretary General of BPP HIPMI revealed that there is an issue that will become the focus of the downstream and industrialization sectors, particularly steel commodities which are regarded as the "backbone" of domestic development. The domestic downstream process has not yet reached its optimal state, as it has not reached the final product stage. The domestic steel industry can now be said to be facing very serious problems. The government must pay special attention to encouraging the country's steel industry, so as to support the development of countries that need steel products.
He also emphasized that PT Krakatau Steel (Persero), which is considered to be experiencing development difficulties, has not received special attention from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), including through State Capital Participation (PMN), which seems to always be mentioned but the PMN provided by the BUMN Ministry has not been thoroughly and strategically reviewed. He believes that the steel industry must be encouraged to be able to build infrastructure in Indonesia. In comparison, China initially built its steel industry first, and only then continued to develop other industrial sectors. In fact, if an industrial ecosystem is to be built, the primary thing to build is the steel industry. Just like in China, it started with building the steel industry, which is very lacking in Indonesia.
