The Minister of Trade (Mendag) stated that the special task force (Satgas) for supervising illegal imported goods is not targeting retailers. Instead, it will focus on monitoring the activities of importers, distributors, or wholesalers of seven regulated commodities. These seven commodities are textiles and textile products (TPT), ready-made garments, ceramics, electronics, beauty or cosmetic products, textile finished products, and footwear. The focus of supervision is on importers or distributors, so he urged traders selling these seven legal commodities not to worry about the existence of the task force. Furthermore, he revealed that the newly established task force will begin its duties immediately and will focus on supervising and inspecting the entry points of imported goods, namely ports, rather than retail locations, as retail is the final outcome. If the task force later requires information from retailers, it will also visit shopping centers to collect data. The government has already identified the storage locations of illegal imported goods, but he declined to disclose where these goods are stored.
